The Chicago Water Team’s Sampling Program goals include:
- Connecting us to our waterways
- Exposing and opposing activities that damage our waters
- Informing and educating the public
- Influencing decision makers
Dozens of volunteers have been trained and provided equipment to capture dissolved oxygen,
temperature, phosphorus, conductivity, and pH readings at sampling sites on Chicago area waterways.
Samplers also act as another set of eyes and ears ready to report abnormalities like excessive litter,
pollution or suspicious chemical appearances.
